Micheal Barclay

Michael Barclay is a freelance music writer who worked at Maclean's, Exclaim and CBC's Brave New Waves, and who has written for the New York Times, Globe and Mail, Eye Weekly, Magnet and others.


For almost 20 years he had a weekly review column in the Waterloo Region Record.


His 2018 book The Never-Ending Present: The Story of Gord Downie and the Tragically Hip was a national bestseller; he is also the co-author of Have Not Been the Same: The CanRock Renaissance 1985-95 and is working on a follow-up.

Michael was a guest on the Fully & Completely podcast in 2019.
